Learning a language not only involves speaking and reading all by your self, though speaking Spanish is comparatively easier since it is more phonetic. Yet it is far simpler to learn a language if you listen to it so do not depend too much on books as there are plenty of materials for you to listen and watch, like songs, movies and tele-novels. Looking at pictures is a great help, and when you learn a Spanish word, you would ever forget its meaning if you know what it looks like. If money and time permits, take off and visit the land where the language is spoken by every one. Be familiar with their habitat and culture and in no time, you would be speaking Spanish.
Just don’t pressure yourself as you often find the harder you try, the more you will end up getting frustrated. If you visit a Spanish speaking country, you would very naturally pick up the finer nuances of the language and speak like the Spaniards. You might sound outlandish but never mind, when you are learning a language for the first time you are not expected to speak it fluently. Learning is a non-stop affair throughout your life and languages can be part of this process so if you treat it as fun, you are likely to at least enjoy yourself while you are studying.
